莎莎翎在她年轻的时候曾跳过舞， 而且以为会一直这样跳下去。但在她10多岁的时候， 她弄伤了膝盖， 因此开始转去专注音乐和创作歌词了。

表演的时候备受鼓舞,莎莎翎决定自己独力开始她的唱片公司。 她的首张EP” 击打成碎” 是在2005年发行的。 而她的首张专辑-要安全，爱着和被尊敬着也会很快发行。

她说自己的音乐是深深被爵士乐影响的， 她的声音也被用来和Erykah Badu作比较。 但对莎莎翎来说， 最重要的不是她听起来怎么样，而是她在音乐里传达一个什么信息。

我想去影响人们，但你不可以决定用什么方法做。 当我和观众碰面的时候，我觉得我总是在转达快乐的情绪。 没有什么比我看到观众席上的人们目无表情的事情更可怕的了。 这是你不要想去发生的事情。莎莎翎吸了一口绿茶说道。

当她创作歌词的时候，她经常会引用她自己的经历来作为参考。 在每首歌曲后面都有一个情景戏。在她遭遇了些什么事， 或者几经沧桑的时候，她往往会写下来。 她是一个非常情绪化的人。当她还年轻的时候，曾经甚至会希望她不会如此情绪化。 但现在她已经懂得怎么去处理它。 即使有时候她站在舞台上，觉得情绪有点令人讨厌。

有时候我希望我更像个机器人。 然而我是非常的情绪化， 乃至于在台上表演的时候我会随着我当时的感觉走。 所以， 在每个演出当中都有一些出乎意外的新东西。 但如果这样的情况有时候变得有点失控起来的话， 这是和任何东西都无关的。 我宁肯对这自己大嚷大叫，直到声音嘶哑，也不愿意去搞一些纯粹是技术上的所谓完美出来。

莎莎翎曾经在唱诗班唱过福音， 而这一经历到现在她还铭记在心。 她喜欢跟着新的唱诗班合作不同的部分， 随着9个大男人在她背后一起， 有时候听起来还真象专辑里面的合唱一样。 为了得到那种实在的感情，专辑是现场灌录的。 创作歌词和灌录唱片可能有很多乐趣， 不过站在台上才上最令人兴奋的。

音乐无处不在， 但如果站在台上表演会有与别不同的体会。 在那非常时刻， 你会有一霎那甚至忘了你是谁。  莎莎翎笑说。

Saša Ling

Saša Ling used to dance a lot when she was younger, and thought she was going to continue with that. But when she was in her teen ages, she injured her knee and started focusing on singing and writing lyrics instead.

Encouraged by the positive reviews she received when she was performing, she decided to have a go herself and started her own record company. Her first EP Beats and Pieces was released in 2005, and her first album To Be Safe, Loved and Respected will be released soon.

She describes her sound as soul influenced by jazz, and her voice has been compared to that of Erykah Badu. But to Saša Ling, the most important thing is not how she sounds but that she conveys a message.

- I want to affect people, but in which way you do so you can not decide yourself. But when I meet the audience, I notice that I often convey happiness. I cannot imagine anything worse than if I would see someone in the audience being completely blank. That is something you do not want to bring about, says Saša Ling while sipping at her green tea.

She always uses herself as a reference when she writes lyrics. There is always a situation behind every song. She is often writing when she has experienced something or left something behind her. She is a very emotional person. When she was younger she sometimes wished that she was not so emotional, but now she has learnt how to deal with it. But sometimes it can be quite troublesome, especially when she is on stage.

- Sometimes I wish I was more like a robot. But I am very emotional, and when I perform I do as my feelings tell me at that moment. Therefore, there will always be something new at every performance. And if it sometimes gets a little bit out of control, there is nothing to do about it. I rather scream myself hoarse than producing something that sounds technically perfect.

Saša used to sing in a gospel choir and this experience is something she still has very much at heart. She enjoys coming up with new choir parts and with the nine man strong band behind her, it sometimes certainly sounds like a choir on the album. The album was recorded live to achieve the real feeling. Writing lyrics and recording may be fun, but standing on stage is most exciting.

- The music is always there. But standing on stage is the ultimate experience. In that very moment, for a second you even forget who you are, smiles Saša Ling.
